Clinical Research Affiliation Network

In striving to serve all Virginians, VCU Massey Cancer Center is expanding its clinical trial offerings statewide to provide more patients access to the latest, cutting-edge cancer therapies, medical devices or prevention methods obtained through clinical trials. In 2011, our integrated clinical trials network consisted of affiliate partnerships in Lynchburg, Fredericksburg, Danville and Hampton Roads. This network enables health systems and oncology medical practices throughout the Commonwealth to access Massey’s excellence in research and its expertise in developing and managing clinical trials.

Overview

VCU Massey Cancer Center is dedicated to extending the most advanced cancer treatments and innovative research to the people of Virginia. Through its network of affiliations with community hospitals and oncology practices, the Center is accomplishing this goal. 

• State-of-the-art cancer care is being extended to the rural communities of Virginia through the Rural Cancer Outreach Program. Established in 1988, this program has been serving Virginians for more than 20 years. 

• Our nationally renowned cancer specialists bring the highest quality of care and access to clinical trials to our veterans and residents of the Tri-Cities through partnership with the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center.

• Our new clinical research affiliates support community oncology practices in their efforts to provide patients with access to research and clinical trials. Massey assists these practices with development and ongoing management of a quality clinical trials program, in addition to access to innovative cancer trials initiated at Massey as well as access to National Cancer Institute- and industry-sponsored research studies.
