You and your primary care doctor
You, as a cancer survivor, must look out for your health. It’s very important to be your own advocate. And it is very important to have your primary care physician be a partner in your health care. A family physician is one who is going to look globally at your health and help remind you of all the different things that need to happen to promote survivorship.
On Nov. 9, 2006, Mary Helen Hackney, M.D., delivered the following presentation at the Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond, Va. Her comments address the role of the primary care doctor in reducing risk of cancer recurrence.
