Study review process
All cancer-related research proposals must be reviewed and approved by the Massey Cancer Center Protocol Review and Monitoring System Committee prior to IRB submission.
Research studies subject to PRMS review include the following:
- Studies involving patients with cancer, their families or their health care providers.
- Secondary data collected from cancer patients or their medical records.
- Cancer-related surveys (e.g., attitudes about risk, prevention and treatment) of the general population.
If you are unsure whether PRMS review is required, please follow the human subjects research submission process and submit to the PRMS committee at MASSEYPRMS@vcu.edu. You will be notified if review is not required.
