Unrestricted gifts support research infrastructure and provide immediate, flexible funding where the need is greatest. Unrestricted funds also allow Massey to support promising research, promote innovative collaborative projects and provide bridge funding when needed.

Endowment gifts

Endowment gifts are held in perpetuity for the needs of Massey Cancer Center. The gift creates a fund that is held intact, and only the income generated by the established fund may be used according to the donor’s directive. Endowments have both immediate and permanent benefits for the institution helping to recruit and retain the best scientists and physician-researchers and provide much needed research funding.

Endowments may be named according to the wishes of the donor in line with VCU naming standards. Endowments may be established as unrestricted or restricted funds, depending on the donor’s wishes.

The following are some of the many options:

  • Chair: $1,000,000 or more
  • Distinguished professorship: $500,000 or more
  • Professorship: $250,000 or more
  • Fellowship: $100,000 or more
  • Endowed fund: $10,000 or more

For more information about restricted gifts, contact Lee Boykin, director of major gifts, at (804) 827-0600.
