Planned giving through
The Lawrence Society
Leave a legacy of hope by supporting Massey through your estate plans.
Planned gifts not only provide for Massey’s future, but they may help reduce estate tax and offer current tax deductions. Donors who designate Massey in their estate plans are invited to join The Lawrence Society, an organization created to recognize these gifts of a lifetime. Just send in The Lawrence Society form [pdf] with or without including the details of your gift. Named in honor of Walter Lawrence Jr., M.D., Massey’s founding director, The Lawrence Society will secure research for the future.
You may consider various planned-giving opportunities:
A bequest: Designating a gift for Massey in your will is easy. Bequest language [pdf] provides the information you need.
Charitable remainder trust: A charitable remainder trust provides fixed or variable income for you during your lifetime. When you pass away, the remaining principal comes to Massey.
Charitable lead trust: A charitable lead trust provides regular payments to Massey during your lifetime for either a term of years or your lifetime. This vehicle reduces estate taxes. The remainder of the estate is given to one’s heir(s) or other beneficiaries.
Charitable gift annuities: A charitable gift annuity is the easiest type of life income gift. Through a simple contract, you can donate an irrevocable gift of cash or appreciated securities in exchange for a fixed or variable income arranged through Massey’s financial partner, the Medical College of Virginia Foundation.
You also may give in the form of:
- Life insurance
- Qualified retirement plans
- Real estate
The Massey Development staff is happy to work with you and your adviser to ensure your gift is arranged as easily and as beneficially for you and your family as possible.
