Treatment of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma

Specific treatment for non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma will be determined by your child’s physician based on:

• Your child’s age, overall health and medical history.
• Extent of the disease.
• Your child’s tolerance for specific medications, procedures or therapies.
• The expectations for the course of the disease.
• Your opinion or preference.

Treatment may include (alone or in combination) the following methods:

• Chemotherapy.
• Radiation therapy.
• Surgery.
• Close monitoring of blood work.
• Bone marrow transplant.
• Bone marrow examinations.
• Lumbar punctures/spinal taps
• Antibiotics – to prevent or treat infections.
• Supportive care – for side effects of treatment.
• Long-term follow up care – to determine response to treatment, detect recurrent disease and manage late effects of treatment.
