Palliative Care Leadership Center

photo

The Palliative Care Leadership Center Initiative is a national program available at six exemplary sites in the U.S. The VCU Massey Cancer Center is one of these locations. Palliative care teams from small and large hospitals may attend two-day training sessions and receive a full year of mentoring at these leadership centers.

During the training session, PCLC faculty assist teams in developing business plans, conducting financial analyses and designing a program structure and implementation plan for their palliative care service.

Unique attributes of Massey’s palliative care program

  • Our program is a National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Center serving cancer patients and other hospital patients.
  • We operate as a consult team and an inpatient unit, and we offer outpatient services.
  • Our training center is most appropriate for academic medical centers and cancer centers.
  • We have extensive experience in making the financial case for palliative care.
Our staff and our institution have long-standing experience serving medically underserved, minority and low-income patients.
