Volunteer for a fundraising event

VCU Massey Cancer Center raises over $1 million annually through our special event program.  Volunteers are essential to this success and help us plan, implement and staff more than 60 events per year.

Below you will find just a few of the fun and rewarding volunteer opportunities offered throughout the year. If you would like to add your name to our roster of volunteers for a specific upcoming event or would like to receive updates regarding volunteer opportunities, please complete and submit our Volunteer Application Form pdf icon.

  • Massey Challenge: Massey Cancer Center is the official charity fundraising partner of the Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10k presented by MARTIN’S. Massey supporters can run or walk the 10k and raise money for cancer, or volunteer their time to ensure the event runs as smoothly as possible. Volunteers are needed both before and during the race.
  • Massey on the River: This annual fall event hosted by the Massey Alliance takes place on Rock Bottom Island on the James River. Kick back and enjoy the autumn air, mouth-watering barbeque, great music and good company during the best time of the year. Both event and committee opportunities are available for young professionals looking to get involved.
  • Moonlight Magic: This spring wine tasting event hosted by the Massey Alliance takes place at the beautiful James River Cellars in Glen Allen. Guests enjoy great wine, food and live music under the stars. Young professionals who are interested in becoming involved with this magical event are encouraged to join the committee or volunteer on the event evening.
  • Shopping Spree at Bizarre Bazaar®: Each year, the Bizarre Bazaar sponsors the “Shopping Spree” benefit where a portion of the proceeds from many retailers are donated to Massey. Before the official opening, members and shopping enthusiasts alike gather to support a worthy cause, drink wine and pick up some great gifts for the holiday season. Volunteers are needed at the Massey Cancer Center booth throughout the entire show weekend.
