Massey physicians receive Best Bedside Manner awards for third consecutive year
For the third year in a row, VCU Massey Cancer Center physicians were recognized with Our Health Richmond magazine’s annual Best Bedside Manner awards for the kindness, empathy and attentiveness they give to patients. Between May and June of 2015, the public submitted the names of medical providers in the Richmond area whose practice philosophies exemplify expertise with compassionate care.
Gita Massey, M.D., pediatric oncologist at Massey Cancer Center and Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) as well as associate professor at VCU, tied for second place in the Hematology/Oncology category. Douglas Arthur, M.D., radiation oncologist at Massey and professor and chair at VCU, was awarded third place in the Radiation Oncology category. Elizabeth Phan, D.O., former palliative care specialist at Massey and assistant professor at VCU, was awarded third place in the Palliative Medicine category. This is the second consecutive year that both Massey and Arthur have received this award.
