We are interested in the molecular mechanisms that result in human papillomavirus infections progressing to cancers. We study viral replication and how viral replication proteins interact with that of the host with the ultimate goal of blocking replication and promoting death of the HPV cancer cells. We are also investigating how the virus promotes segregation of its genome in infected cell during mitosis, and how the virus regulates transcription from the host genome. We use a combination of primary keratinocytes, cancer cell lines and patient derived xenografts (PDX) in our studies.
