I have a dual line of research investigating pediatric obesity treatment and obesity policy. My research focuses on adolescents from traditionally undeserved backgrounds and those at highest risk for obesity and cancer-related co-morbidities. In addition, my research systematically evaluates school food policies and programs and how changes to the school environment impact students' health behaviors, and ultimately their risk of obesity and related co-morbidities. I have two current large studies funded by NIH: An RCT investigating the role of parents in adolescent obesity treatment, and a systematic evaluation of changes to the school food environment on students' dietary consumption patterns.
